A FAMILY-FRIENDLY DAY TRIP FROM SEATTLE TO BAINBRIDGE ISLAND
There are so many things for families to enjoy in Seattle. But sometimes it’s nice to get away from the city and enjoy a quieter pace.
My top choice for a family-friendly day trip from Seattle is a visit to Bainbridge Island. A pleasant ferry ride from the city allows you to settle into the slower pace of island life.
Hungry after you hop off the ferry? A short walk from the ferry terminal is Streamliner Diner. With indoor and outdoor seating, friendly service and delicious food, it’s a great spot to fuel up before venturing further. Or if you prefer bakery fare, stop into Blackbird Bakery for a chocolate croissant or a french roll.
Young kids will love the just-right size of the playground overlooking Eagle Harbor Park. There’s also a walking path that leads to the harbor where you can relax on a bench and look for seals. Or on a drizzly day, KiDiMu is an interactive children’s museum where little ones can explore and use their imaginations.
There’s plenty more to do on Bainbridge Island, including shopping along Winslow Way and a variety of additional dining options.
Grown-ups visiting sans kids can enjoy the island’s wineries, too. That’s right, they’ve got wine! Whether you enjoy a tasting at Eleven Winery, Bainbridge Vineyards or Perennial Vineyards, you’ll be happy you opted for the detour.
And if you’re looking for a beautiful backdrop for an outdoor family photography session I’d be happy to meet you and your loved ones to capture your day on the island. Mini sessions and larger image collections are available!
