So, you won’t find me posing your little one into the shape of a frog, curling them up inside a basket or asking you to make elaborate outfit changes.
We’ve all seen images of newborns babies posed this way and, while those images can be pretty cute, they’re not necessarily the safest for your baby.

A newborn is most content when they’re close to you, resting upon your chest or cradled in your arms. Your warmth and the sound of your heartbeat is so soothing to your little one.

SAFE, COMFORTABLE & COZY
I like to remind parents of the importance of baby-safe handling, and to support baby’s head and neck whenever you’re holding them. Sorry, Dads, we won’t be tossing baby into the air like a pizza! This session can of course be lots of fun, but gentle care is the top priority.
A cozy blanket that has special meaning to you can be used in some of your images, or dressing baby in soft, warm clothing. Making sure baby feels safe, comfortable & cozy helps to ensure a positive experience.
Sessions are scheduled so there will be plenty of time to allow you and baby to take a break when needed. Whether it’s a feeding or a diaper change, this helps to keep everyone comfortable (even Mom & Dad).
The best time for a newborn photo session is in the morning.
Mom and Dad may have had a sleepless night, but this is likely when your baby is feeling their most content.
When I arrive at your home, I’ll ask you to show me around so I can observe which rooms have ideal natural light.
I may ask you to stand by a window as you hold baby close and gently kiss the softest, little head in the whole wide world.
Perhaps you’re a new parent, or you have older kids. No matter the size of your family, I’ll capture the sweetness of your newest addition as we move throughout your home.

For your Lifestyle Newborn Session I’ll photograph your family using only natural light.
Why? An image taken using simply the light flowing through a window creates lovely shadows and highlights all around you. It helps create that natural glow. I also feel that this is the most gentle approach, helping to create a soothing environment.
