Have questions about booking a lifestyle family or newborn photo session?
This post is all about the questions clients commonly ask.

How can I decide between In Home or Outdoor Family Photos?
There are a few things to consider when making this choice. What would you like to remember?
Are you drawn to the cozy, familiar surroundings of your home? Do you have a newborn to care for?
Consider what your family is like. Is it tough to get everyone dressed and out the door on a daily basis? If so, let’s take the stress out of the equation. I’ll come to you and capture memories of you snuggling on the sofa, playing with your kids, or doing a special activity you all enjoy.
Maybe you’re an outdoorsy group? Kicking off your shoes and taking a walk on the beach at sunset to find treasures that have washed ashore may be more your style.
What time of year are you planning to book your session? Perhaps the bold colors of an outdoor fall photo session are what you’d love most.
We can make great pictures happen just about anywhere!
How do I book a session?
If you’ve viewed my portfolio and feel that I’m the photographer for you, the first step is for me to say,
Thank you so much! I’d be thrilled to create something beautiful for you and your family.
Next is to schedule a brief phone call so I can answer any questions you have and get to know you.
For some clients, I realize it can be tough to find 15 minutes for a phone call. Really, I get it - jobs, kids, errands, appointments!
But trust me, I won’t keep you on the phone for long and it’s a good way to break the ice.
Once we set a date, I’ll email you an invoice and contract. After submitting the non-refundable $300 session fee and signing the contract you’re officially booked!
The session fee includes my time photographing you and your family, as well as professional editing of images.
Image Collections and print products are purchased separately.
What if it rains on the day of my outdoor family session?
Leading up to an outdoor family session I always have my eye on the weather. If rain is in the forecast we have options:
1. We’ll switch from an Outdoor Session to an In Home Session. Photographing your family in your home is equally beautiful and I love documenting the special details of the place where your life happens each day.
2. Set on outdoor images? No problem. We’ll reschedule for a day without rain!
Do you offer Mini Sessions?
A limited number of Mini Sessions are offered throughout the year. Please contact me for details.
Do you travel?
Hurray! I’d love to. Additional cost for travel expenses.
Get in touch so I know what to pack.
Are you vaccinated?
Yes! I’m vaccinated for Covid and I’ve received a recent tDap booster.
I’m about to have a baby! Is there still time to book a Newborn Session?
Well, first let me say Congratulations! Having your baby is all you need to worry about right now, and nothing more. (Phew.)
You’ve been busy making a tiny human so when you have a chance, drop me note.
There is no specific age for your baby to be photographed for a Lifestyle Newborn Session. Some photographers prefer to schedule the session within days after birth, but my style is muuuuch more laid back. Your focus is on your baby, as it should be and your photography session should be stress-free.
While I can’t guarantee last minute bookings, I’ll do my very best to schedule your session on your preferred date.
What is the best time of day for Newborn Photos?
These sessions are scheduled in the morning. Don’t worry, I won’t be knocking on your door at 6am, but the ideal time is between 8am-10am. This is because baby will likely be most content after a good night’s sleep.
When you book, I’ll email you a brochure containing all you’ll need to know about your upcoming session.
How will I receive my images after my photo session?
About 2 weeks after your session, you’ll receive an email to access a password-protected gallery where you can view your personalized slideshow containing all the images from your session.
Then choose from 3 Image Collections, which include digital images.
Image Collections range from $450 to $850* and are purchased in addition to the non-refundable $300* booking deposit.
(WA State sales tax will be applied.)
Can I order prints and other products after my session?
Yes! I’ve curated a beautiful selection of products including fine arts prints, framed prints, albums and more that you’ll be able to view and purchase through the online store connected to your image gallery.
Not sure what to choose or how to place your order? No problem! I’m always here to assist with the ordering process.
What is a print credit and why is it included with Image Collections?
A print credit is a dollar amount included with the Image Collection options, which can be used toward the purchase of products in the online store.
I see photography as an investment and you should get something tangible out of the experience that you can enjoy, rather than digital images sitting there on your hard drive collecting dust.
If you need additional help navigating the website, I’m happy to walk you through it. I’m here for any questions you have, even the questions you feel silly asking.
Do you use props when photographing newborns?
How about posing newborns and squishing them into baskets and stuff?
Nope! Newborns are perfect just as they are. No props, no baskets.
My approach is to photograph you holding and snuggling baby.
That special connection is pure magic!
How many people are included in a lifestyle family or newborn session?
Your session includes your immediate family (parents + kids).
Extended Family Sessions are available if you’d like to include grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends.
